Woodspring Wings MAC is one of the foremost model aircraft clubs in Europe. Formed in 1989, the club owns its own small airfield some 7 miles west of Bristol and has constructed runways, taxiways, ramp area, car parks and club house. Eighteen two-day airshows have been held since 1991 with a mix of model and full-size aircraft displays and compre- hensive facilities for the public on the ground as well as the flying displays. A wide range of aircraft have taken part including many RAF display aircraft, all of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight aircraft, aerobatics, formation displays, gliders, parachuting etc. Every show has also included 75 or more model aircraft of every type and representing the most advanced model technology of the time. Quite frequently some of the model aircraft are larger than the 'full-size' manned aircraft in the show! I have acted as Display Director for all these shows and event organiser for the first few years. I also organised a seafront flying display at Clevedon in 1998 and another is planned in 2012.
